Who is alkyma?

We support you in achieving personal and professional mastery.

Where does the name come from?

The name alkyma draws on the metaphor of alchemy – the early empirical discipline that, long before modern chemistry emerged, sought through observation, experimentation and continuous refinement to transform base metals into precious ones.

For us, alchemy represents the art of transformation: discovering hidden resources within people, developing skills, and enabling personal and professional potential to unfold.

It is about bringing out what is valuable within us – and transforming our personal “lead” into “gold”.

The alchemy between people

When people connect naturally and understand one another, we often say that there is good “chemistry” between them.

We prefer to speak of alchemy. Not only because chemistry is not everyone’s favourite subject, but above all because human relationships are shaped less by scientific certainty and more by experience, intuition and mutual trust.

To build strong and effective relationships, we therefore need clarity, patience and method – as well as empathy, intuition and courage.

The power of combining different disciplines

Alchemy also emerges when different disciplines come together and create outcomes that none of them could achieve alone.

At alkyma, we combine:

  • professional coaching, to help people find new paths, especially where no ready-made solution exists;
  • learning and training, to build new capabilities and refine them to the level required;
  • management consulting, to draw on experience, proven methods and practices that have delivered tangible results.

At the centre of everything we do is the individual.

Chemistry can predict which reactions may take place based on the structure of the substances involved. Sometimes, however, a catalyst is required: an element that is neither a reactant nor a product, but which enables the reaction to occur, making it easier and faster.

This is how we see our role: as a catalyst for development and sustainable change.

The values behind our name

The name alkyma brings together the values that guide our work:

A – Awareness

Awareness means understanding the impact of our thoughts, decisions and actions – on ourselves and on others.

L – Leadership

Leadership begins with self-leadership: the willingness to take responsibility for what we want to achieve and for the way we choose to pursue it.

K – Knowledge

Knowledge and competence provide the foundation for exploring new possibilities, learning effective methods and continuously developing our capabilities.

Y – You

You, the individual, are both the starting point and the destination of every development journey.

Your personality, your resources and your goals are at the heart of our work.

M – Mastery

Mastery means not only possessing knowledge, but also being able to apply it effectively and pass it on to others.

A skilled craftsperson knows which tool to use for the right task. A master or an artist can go one step further and use even an unexpected tool to create something extraordinary.

A – Authenticity

Authenticity means drawing on our own strengths and inner resources rather than relying on patterns or behaviours that do not reflect who we are.

It means remaining true to ourselves – or becoming the person we genuinely want to be.

The alkyma logo

Our logo represents a decision tree. It reflects the many choices we are called upon to make every day and the way those decisions shape our personal and professional growth.

At the same time, the tree symbolises roots, life, growth, fruit and the ability to identify and use resources even in challenging conditions.

The inspiration came during a journey through Namibia.

Our guide, a San from the Kalahari, noticed our curiosity about a remarkable tree. It seemed to be the only one able to thrive in that dry, harsh and yet extraordinarily vibrant landscape. With its few leaves and unusual appearance, it seemed rather unremarkable at first.

He explained that it was a quiver tree, one of the most valuable natural resources for his people.

Its branches were traditionally used to make quivers for arrows. Its aloe-rich leaves were used to prepare natural remedies, while its wood served as fuel. Because the tree rises above the low vegetation of the bush, it also provided an important landmark for orientation in the desert.

This story has remained with us ever since:

Even in the most difficult environments, unexpected and often hidden resources can be found. What matters is knowing how to recognise them and make meaningful use of them.
